1. A purely decorative divider image should carry which alt attribute?

   An explicitly empty alt tells assistive technology the image is decoration and should be skipped. Omitting the attribute entirely makes most screen readers fall back to reading the filename, which is noise.
2. A line chart shows donations doubling each quarter. What should the alt text lead with?

   A chart's message is the trend, so the alt text should state it, the doubling, in one or two sentences. Describing visual furniture like gridlines replaces the packaging instead of the contents.
3. What do the width and height attributes buy the reader?

   Modern browsers use the attributes only to compute the aspect ratio, so space is reserved with the right proportions and text stops jumping as images arrive. CSS can still size the image freely.
4. How do a <figcaption> and an alt attribute divide the work?

   Alt text stands in for the image when it cannot be seen. The caption is visible commentary attached to the figure for all readers. Doing both jobs with one text is how images end up read twice or not at all.
5. Who decides which file from a srcset actually gets downloaded?

   srcset offers candidates and the browser chooses, adapting to the reader's actual display and network. The src file is only the ultimate fallback for browsers without support.
