1. After const name = "fox"; the code runs name.toUpperCase() alone. What happens to name?

   String methods never change the original; they return a new string, so name.toUpperCase() by itself changes nothing. The line that transforms is the line that assigns.
2. The lesson prefers one of the three quoting styles when values join text. Which, and why?

   Template literals carry labels and values together in one readable shape, with the arithmetic and interpolation inside the braces. Concatenation with + reads backwards from how it assembles, which is the tax it charges.
3. What is "foxipa".slice(-2)?

   Negative indexes count backward from the end of the string, so slice(-2) hands back the last two characters. Between positive and negative slicing you can reach either end without knowing the length.
4. What does "foxipa".at(-1) return?

   at(-1) returns the last character, which bracket notation cannot express, since brackets with a negative index walk off the front of the string and come back undefined.
5. What does it mean that strings are immutable?

   Immutability means the string itself is never edited in place; every method returns something new, and the original stands exactly as it was. Once that settles in, the assignment habit follows naturally.
