Create a disposable repository and make at least two commits. Create one unsigned annotated tag and one cryptographically signed tag using a temporary verification setup appropriate to your platform. Record the exact tag object IDs, run `git show` on both tags, and then run `git tag -v` on the signed tag. Also run verification on the unsigned tag and preserve the diagnostic. If your environment cannot create or verify a signature, document the missing dependency rather than claiming success. Finally, run `git verify-tag` against the signed tag and compare its result with `git tag -v`. Success requires a written state record distinguishing: (1) annotated versus signed, (2) signature validity versus key/trust availability, (3) `git tag -v` versus `git verify-tag`, and (4) cryptographic verification versus your project’s separate provenance or authorization rules. Perform all signing experiments in the disposable repository.
